Stafford services on the M6 southbound have seen significant fluctuations in public satisfaction, rising from one of the lowest-rated sites in 2017 to one of the highest in recent years. Originally planned by Blue Boar in the late 1990s, the site opened under Roadchef management in 1999 following a complex planning process that favoured the North Pirehill Farm location over a competing Granada proposal. The site has evolved over time, becoming the first service area to trial a Costa Coffee in 2000 and recently undergoing changes to its retail and catering lineup, including the addition of an Asda Express and a new Pret A Manger unit.
