Lancaster services, originally named Forton services, is one of the most recognisable motorway service areas in the UK. Situated on the M6 and owned by the Crown Estate, the site is particularly famous for its 65-foot observation tower, which once housed a luxury restaurant but has been closed to the public since 1989. Following a series of modern refurbishments between 2020 and 2024, the site has updated its catering outlets, expanded electric vehicle charging facilities, and introduced innovative hydrogen-powered signage to manage fuel pricing information.
