Cromwell services, located on the A1, has evolved from a simple 1960s petrol station into a modern site under Welcome Break management. Originally featuring an Esso forecourt and a long-standing Little Chef, the facility underwent various ownership changes and redevelopment plans before Applegreen acquired a stake in Welcome Break, leading to the rebranding of the site. Recent years have seen the introduction of a Greggs, the removal of the former restaurant building due to its poor condition, and the opening of a Taco Bell drive-thru in 2026.
