Opening on 9 June 2011, the Cashel service station holds the distinction of being Ireland’s first privately developed offline motorway service area, established to address a delay in the government providing direct motorway facilities. Located at junction 8 of the M8, the site functions as a spacious forecourt featuring a main building with internal dining and retail counters, complemented by a separate drive-thru McDonald’s and ample parking space. Originally opened under the Topaz brand, the facility was subsequently rebranded as Circle K in 2018.
