Blyth services originated as a private A-road development by Granada and Esso, opening in 1988 to avoid the stringent regulations associated with motorway sites. The facility originally featured a cross-shaped building and a Granada Lodge, eventually evolving through various brand changes to include names like EDC, Caffรจ Ritazza, and currently Costa and Greggs. Significant structural shifts occurred in 2008 when a flyover replaced the Hilltop Roundabout, altering how vehicles access the site, and in 2023 when an old roadway was transformed into a high-powered electric vehicle charging hub. The forecourt has also seen extensive rebranding, transitioning from Esso to Euro Garages and finally to Asda Express, while local competition has increased with the arrival of nearby drive-thru outlets.

Motorway Services is a Good Stuff website.
